The verdict

Spirit is a 54.3-metre Amels 177 Limited Edition motor yacht delivered in the Netherlands in 2011; she has nothing to do with Spirit Yachts, the British builder of wooden classic-style boats. Her interior was stripped back and redesigned in 2020, and brokers list a further refit in 2025. Charter rates start at $295,000 a week plus expenses for winter 2026/27 in the Caribbean and Bahamas, rising to $325,000 in high season. She suits a family or group of up to 12 who want a proven, mid-size superyacht with a spa and a large toy collection rather than a new build.

No. This Spirit is a 54.3 m steel and aluminium motor yacht built by Amels in the Netherlands in 2011, one of the Amels 177 Limited Editions (Amels). Spirit Yachts is a separate British yard in Suffolk that builds wooden sail and motor yachts in a 1930s classic style. Searches for “spirit yacht” mix the two.

How many guests can Spirit accommodate?

Charter brokers list 12 guests with a crew of 14 (YachtCharterFleet; Burgess). The layout is a master suite forward on the main deck and four cabins on the lower deck, plus a convertible cabin, which is why some listings say 11 guests in five cabins (Boat International, June 2024).

Where does Spirit charter?

Winter 2026/27 is in the Caribbean and Bahamas (Edmiston; Northrop & Johnson). In summer brokers list the Mediterranean, including Corsica, Sardinia and the French Riviera (Burgess); no summer 2027 rate is quoted yet. What changed in Spirit's 2020 refit?

Dôme Project Interiors, working on its first superyacht, stripped the original Nuvolari Lenard interior back to bare walls and floors and replaced it with a sea-inspired scheme in soft blues, greens and whites. The work took about three months and she was ready in the first week of June 2020, in La Ciotat, France; the exterior was also repainted (Boat International, Jan 2021; Boat International, June 2024). The refit won the Master Cabin Award at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2020 (Design Awards). Brokers also list a further refit in 2025 (Northrop & Johnson); the scope of that work is not confirmed.
